Geocache Description:

This multicache is located in the north Hampshire countryside close to the village of Upton Grey and is part of a series of hampshire pub based caches. Terrain is fairly flat on public and permissive footpaths. The road has no pavement and is pretty quite though. There are stiles on route so is not really suitable for buggies/prams.

This is a 4 part offset multicache, meaning you'll need to find some numbers along the route and substitute these for the coordinates of the cache locations.

Our cache starts at the local watering hole (N 51°13.775’ – W 0°59.903’) Parking is available here.

OK... on with the cache details.

Part One:

Using the name of our watering hole as reference work out the following:

A = Number of vowels in its name
B = The Number of D’s in its name
D = The Number of M’s in its name

To the right of the Big Red box there is a sign standing proud, who knows what it means but it has some numbers (and the letters SV) if you multiple the two numerals on the sign (excluding the zero) you get to know what C is equal too.

Knowing how fast to drive around here will get you "E" if you divide it by 10.

Part Two:

Coordinates N AD°DE.(A+B)B(A+B) - W 0°AC.CCC
I hope you brought a bit of bread with you for the feathered friends around here. The great lady herself has never actually been here but there is a benchmark dedicated to how golden she is.

There are 2 dates on the plaque, Add up all the individual numbers on the sign (eg 1920 would be 1+9+2+0 = 12, get it?) = FG

Part Three:
Coordinates N AG°G(F+G).(C-G)(F+G)(C-G) - W G°00.GA0’

Beware this popular location on Saturday afternoon’s during the summer as you might be run over by a fancy car or a lady in a puff white dress looking rather nervous. Now go find the memorial for King & Country.

How many ‘BLAKES’ are named on the memorial? = H
How many ‘KINGES’ are also named? = J
How long did the great one last? = K
How long did it take the second time around = L

Part Four: (The Cache)

Nearly there now. Follow the lane along and then find a path heading off to the side…. (watch out for cars as you will be walking on the road.)

Cache Coordinates N AG°DK.(J-H)J(L-J)’ – W 0D°00.(K+G)C(F-G)’

Enjoy the cache! Please reinstate the camouflage as best you can and keep your eyes open for dog walking muggles!

Update: I have had to shorten the cache as a number of signs went missing from the village and the surrounding countryside, walk is now quite a bit shorter but it’s a nice village and local watering hole so worth a visit.
