This is a camoflaged magnetic micro located at an approximate elevation of 622 feet.
NO NIGHT CACHING!
Unfortunately, location may be locked even during daylight hours - especially during winter.
The Scenic Overlook located at Roosevelt State Park is actually old Highway 13. When I-20 was built in the late 60's/early 70's, highway 13 was moved over and a by-pass built around Morton. The old road was left usable because of the view it offered. The new road joins the old highway about a half a mile to the south at the interstate and about 4 miles to the north. Be sure to take your camera for the beautiful view.
To the west, you will see a relic of the past. This fire tower was used until just a few years ago. If you will look hard on a clear day, you can just make out a couple of other fire towers in the distance to the east and southeast.
Talk about a house with a view, there was once a house on the EAST side of the top of this hill. A great-aunt and -uncle of the Corporation lived in that house. When the new highway was built, they moved to a new house about 1/2 mile to the north. The house was moved about a mile to the south, next door to the Corporate home-place.
To take more advantage of the view from this higher ground, this tower was built a few years ago. The sign states that it is open from 10am to 4pm, but I have seen the gate open later than this. Again, NO NIGHT CACHING! The local, county, and state officials are serious about the signs that say 'no parking after dark.'
Please be careful not to drop the cache. Try to put it back EXACTLY where you found it. Let me know what you think, but please don't spoil it for others. Use stealth cause everyone can see you here.
I would say something about a key holder, but you can figure that out for yourself.
