This is a rehide in the same area as the old cache
but easier trail..less poison ivy..
and better defined help spots enroute
..have fun!
The infamous Captain Redbeard Smith..long lost cousin of
Windwagon Smith..came up the Arkansas River to hide his booty. He
had a few difficulties navigating his Pirate Ship..or was it a
Pirate Dingy up the river. He found no ships to attack enroute from
Tulsa. After getting a view of the southern part of Wichita he
pulled up along the bank in the Park, drug his treasure up the
hill..okay maybe it was carried his treasure up the hill..into the
woods and down the trail.
Print out a copy of the treasure map..go to the starting
coordinates and follow the map. No bushwacking is necessary..just
stay on the trail.
Along the way you will find places to help you. Each is numbered
on the Treasure Map. When you get to the starting spot…just “mark”
your GPS and start off the distance listed on the map. Do this at
each spot and you should get there. The direction should be close
enough to help you. #4 is the turn to the cache..if you look
carefully at some of the nearby trees..you might find some of the
booty. There is some poison Ivy along the trail and in the woods.
You should note the difference between Virginia Creeper and Poison
Ivy as it's there too..and it’s okay. I’ve included pictures. Watch
your kids and pets if you have a problem with it….I do.
The treasure box is a small wooden chest..the treasures and
logbook are inside. The container is not very big so please don’t
leave large items. Please recover the container and try to hide it
so it won’t be found by nongeocachers.
BTW...the name of the cache comes from
the movie "Six Days Seven Nights" where Harrison Ford is telling
Anne Heche about seeing the pirates by the island...and her
response..
