Geocache Description:

A pretty Southeast Alaska Harbor, with some history attached. Our first hide!

Drive out (northward)on Glacier Highway about 24 miles from downtown Juneau. Turn left about a mile past Peterson Creek. Park near the boat ramps at approx coordinates N58deg 29.451', W134deg 47.282'.

Take the trail to north of the ramps. There will be two interpretive signs, find an old trail between them to a bluff on the water side of the trail. Be careful of footing along the bluff. A little bushwhacking will be required, as some blueberry bushes have grown in- would recommend rain gear if it's wet out.

Enjoy the views and the history!

-This cache is now a tribute to my father (Gavia01) who passed away in 2006. He used "Some Alaska History" to show me how to set a geocache, and was ultimately the person who got me into the wonderful world of geocaching.

In loving memory of Mark D. Miles
