The coordinates will take you
to a shelter at Presque Isle Park near Shiras Pool and
Moosewood Nature Center. The shelter DOES have
electricity.
Please bring a dish to pass, some
lawn chairs, picnic games, etc. Grills available, we'll have the
fires going from 4-5 pm. Group picture at 4:30 pm.
We'll have coordinates for the
temporary caches at check-in. Please email 2_UP_Geologists if you
would like to volunteer to place a temporary cache or two. The
coordinates will be determined well ahead of time but the caches
must be placed prior to the event on the 12th and removed prior to
closure of the park at 10 pm. We'll have additional information as
we get closer to the event.
Bring some bugs (no ticks please!)
and stories to swap.
Unfortunately, dogs are only allowed
inside closed cars.
***UPDATE*** Door prizes will be
drawn after the group picture. If you have something you'd like to
add to the goodies, feel free to drop them off at the time you
check in. Otherwise, the cohosts are busily getting things
finalized for the event. The location issue resolved itself and the
coordinates posted here are correct. Park in the Moosewood Nature
Center/Shiras Pool parking lot (the lot closest to the coordinates)
if there's enough room, otherwise near the ice cream stand. Both
Moosewood and Shiras Pool will be open so feel free to visit them,
no charge for either.
***ANOTHER UPDATE*** We might have
the ability to upload caches to your GPSr so bring your download
cable. RScout79's message refers to one of the door prizes -
"Caution: Driver May Be GEOCACHING" decals for the back window of a

***FINAL NOTE*** Thanks to everyone
for making it such a great day. Special thanks to Capt. Bud for the
hostess gifts (they're awesome!), to everyone who brought all the
great items for the prize table, and to Team LaLonde for taking the
wonderful group picture. You could really tell this wasn't my
family because the entire group assembled in less than two minutes
and without undue grumbling. Watch for an event next year. We had
so much fun putting this together, we might have to do it
again.
