Geocache Description:

A micro cache just off a segment of Flagstaff's Urban Trail System (FUTS)near a memorial to the town's namesake. Bring a pen or pencil.

This pillbottle is located about 50 yards from the memorial to honor the Boston settlers of 1876. On July 4th 1876 this group errected a flagstaff in honor of the United States of America's Centennial. The area at the time was named McMillan Ranch. The town adopted the name shortly there after.

The Flag that flew on that fateful day had 37 stars in five rows (8-7-7-7-8 respectively). The base of the current pole adds a historical perspective to the town and will give you more details than given here.
