This is another quick cache along the Trans Labrador Highway near
the Ashuanipi River. This is a very popular fishing and cabin area
for residents of Labrador City and Wabush. It is just East of the
bridge and parking is available. The cache is an aspirin bottle
about a metre or more above ground. Small trades welcome, cash
too!!! The first fishing and hunting camp in Labrador West was
opened on Ashuanipi River in 1960 and called Frontier Lodge. The
main lodge consisted of a dining area, cook house, recreation area
complete with stone fireplace and wet bar. There were also three
bunk houses, storage sheds, and caretaker's cottage. This complex
located was later donated to the First Carol Scout Association. The
Scouts use these buildings for summer and winter camping.
