Geocache Description:

I have been coming to Raccoon Lake for 34 years. Last year when I started geocaching I noticed all of the caches were around the park. So I decided to take everyone around to the side of the lake that I grew up at.

The creek coming out the the dam was and has always been one of my favorite places for fishing. They stock it with rainbow trout in late April and I have caught quite a few out of here. The fishing is also great for catfish, crappie and walleye.

This is the second of four I placed this week while on a short fishing trip. Fishing was not great but I got a lot of good caching in which made it all worth it.

The cache is a large ammo can. This is a very family friendly cache filled with all kinds of trade items, many for kids. I made sure the journey was an easy one to the location they were hidden. I hate going through poison ivy and thickets personally. This one is located next to an old parking lot that is now closed due to the security concerns from 9/11. There is a gravel path that leads you right to it. Please take a minute to walk over to the creek and take a look at the dam from the bottom. It's amazing to think how it holds all that water in when you look at it from this angle.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the hunt!
