Wander across the water meadows of the river Dane, near the centre of Northwich
From the parking waypoint on Malpas road, don't cross the footbridge ahead of you but bear left across the grass and follow path into trees alongside the railway.
cross under railway and follow the arrow, you are on your own.
The railway that you have just passed under is the middlewich branch, which is single track and runs from Sandbach to Northwich via middlewich and used to serve the saltworks and chemical works in middlewich and northwich as well as being a useful diversion route to manchester and chester from crewe.
The river Dane is a fast flowing river that rises in the stafordshire moorlands and drains a lot of the cheshire plain before meeting the river weaver in the centre of northwich above town swing bridge.
this area is the water meadows and splits northwich suburbs in two, as the river winds back and forth across this shallow valley
