A mountain in England and Wales in generally accepted as being a hill over 2000ft (610m). As Oxfordshire’s highest point is White Horse Hill at 855ft (261m) climbing a mountain in the county is a little difficult. Or is it? This is a gentle mini series for the walkers and the Trigpointers, each cache being place on a hill top with a trig point nearby. The idea being that if you visit four top which have a combined height of over 2000ft, you have your mountain. Far fetch, but hopefully fun.
The above coordinates are for the cache itself, the Trig Point is at N51 56.172 W001 20.356 and is 502ft (153m) above sea level. When placing the cache I parked near the White Horse Inn in the village and walked across the fields to the cache, about a 3 mile round trip, just far enough to work up a thurst. The Paths are a little uneven and can be muddy in places so strong shoes or boots are advisable. Inside the front cover of the log you will find a letter and a number which will help you find the summit.
Other caches in this series are:
Oxfordshire’s Mountain - Great Tew
Oxfordshire’s Mountain - Lidstone
Oxfordshire’s Mountain - The Summit
