This cache has been archived.

FluteFace: I've replaced this with another not too far away and, hopefully, a little more flood resistant.

Geocache Description:

This is another in a series of caches along the Stillaguamish River, this time in a soon-to-be-developed park that will access the river and the Whitehorse Trail.

I discoverd this undeveloped park while looking for a place for another cache, and realized that it would be perfect for another "I Love the Stilly" cache, since it is along the Stillaguamish River. While I was here, I was impressed by the solitude. I met only one other person here, and so was undisturbed as I walked to the river. While I was here, I saw flowers and birds that I could actually hear. Sitting by the river, I actually startled a deer (and it startled me!) about 50' away from me. Now is the time to visit this beautiful place, before the park brings in more visitors.

The cache itself shouldn't be much of a problem. Most of the walk is on flat, well-defined trail. The last few feet is a bushwhack through tall grass, but stickers shouldn't be a problem. If you continue bushwhacking west towards the river, make sure you hold tightly to small hands, as you will come to a small bluff overlooking the river. If you continue south along the mowed trail, you will find easy access to the river.

This soon-to-be park is hard to find, since it is not well signed. Head east out of Arlington on Hwy 530. Turn north on 115th Ave NE and follow it until it until you come to the parking coordinates (48 14.334, 122 04.647), on the left side. There is room for 3 or 4 cars in a small parking area marked by barbed wire. Enter through the small opening in the fence and, keeping to the right, walk down the hill. The blue house to the left is owned by Snohomish County and occupied by renters. Please don't disturb them. At the bottom of the hill, you will find a picnic table, a couple of mowed trails to explore, and the Whitehorse Trail.

Congrats to BonnieJean and Rufus on their FTF!

Finally, please let me know if there are problems with either the cache or its coordinates. Most importantly, have fun!
