June 26, 2006, R Day (Reception) for the newest cadets at the
United States Military Academy, West Point. This day is the first
day of a 47 month training program that takes 1320 of the nations
finest young men and women fresh out of high school and trains them
to be professional military officers who are broadly educated,
professionally skilled, moral-ethically and physically fit, and are
committed to continue growth and development both as Army officers
and as American citizens.
These cadets are selected after meeting stringent academic,
leadership, and physical fitness standards of excellence. From over
13,000 applicants, these cadets were chosen. Four cadets from the
surrounding Wichita area will enter West Point today, including my
son, Brett Brown. GO ARMY! SINK NAVY!
