Geocache Description:

The Silvery Slocan Heritage Tour is approximately 235 kms long. Be prepared for breath taking senery as you take a step back in time. The tour will take you through the towns of Nelson, Kalso, New Denver, as well as through the "Valley of the Ghosts". The loop can be driven in four hours - with NO CACHING. You MIGHT be able to find the series of caches in one day but we strongly suggest that you spend two days as there are so many things to see and do along the way.

Retallack
located in the "Valley of the Ghosts" which was once the richest silver mining region in Canada, is about 27 kms West of Kaslo and about 20 kms east of New Denver.

Driving along Hwy 31A watch for the turnoff for the Retallack Resort, cross the creek and park at the trailhead for the "Cedars Trail". The trail is an easy 1km loop (with the cache being near the middle) that will take you for a pleasant walk amongst some very large cedar trees. You will be looking for an ammo can.

There are 14 caches that you will need to visit - in any order - to find "Silvery Slocan Heritage Tour - Pay Dirt". At ten of the cache sites you will find a clue that is written on the first page of the log book as well as on the lid. Write this clue down. Four of the caches do not have a clue - but we're not going to tell you which caches those are.

Since this segment is also a standalone cache, you are of course welcome to just log this cache if you don't have time to take the complete tour.
