A cache along the Ygnacio Canal Trail.
The canal serves the south end of the Valley with irrigation water and was created over 50 years ago when the valley was agricultural. When I bought our house in 1958, I had a contract to receive one acre foot of water per year for $4.50! some neighbors actually filtered and treated the water for household use! Today, you can still see intakes where houses along the trail pump water for their yards.
The trail is clearly signed by Walnut Creek as being open during daylight hours ONLY. It is NOT fenced from the water and the flow is deceptively fast. It should be treated with care and respect, especially with children along.
The trail is accessible by bicycle and on foot. Since it goes through a residential area, there are many crossing streets which also allow short-walk access by car. HAVE FUN!
You WILL need your own pen or pencil for this cache.
