Geocache Description:

This cache is near the Diggings site museum in Pilgrim’s Rest. For entering the museum you need to buy a R10 entrance ticket at the Information centre in town, with which you can view the museum, attend a guided tour and view a gold panning demonstration. If you only want to look for the cache, ask the guide if you can walk along the creek, maybe they will let you.
An alternative would be to enter the gravel road, more or less opposite the Uptown entrance to town, and park your vehicle at the railway tracks (visible from the main road). From here it is an easy walk along the tracks to the cache. This railway line was the first electrified line in South Africa. Pilgrim’s Rest, after Kimberley was the second town with electricity in South Africa, and it had electricity before some parts of London did.
If you enter from Diggings side, it is about a 400m hike along the stream. The cache is hidden above the high water mark, before you cross the stream.
If you enter from the railway line side, you need to cross the stream, which is not advised when the stream is full (usually January/ February)
The cache is a small size plastic container in a Zip lock bag, containing a logbook, a few items to trade (wish I could leave you gold in there) and a guineafowl feather.
