In Tolmie State Park
Dr. William Frazer Tolmie (1812-66), for whom this Park (and this cache) is named, was employed by the Hudson Bay Company at Fort Nisqually as a physician, surgeon, botanist, and fur trader. In 1858, Dr. T wrote to the territorial governor supporting the claim of the Nisqually Tribe that the proposed reservation for the tribe, which included the present Tolmie State Park and surrounding land, was inappropriate for the tribe because of the river life-style of the Indians. The reservation was later fixed on the banks of the Nisqually River.
Park in the upper lot for this two-part multi cache. STAY ON PAVED ROADS OR TRAILS (except for a few feet at the final). Satellite reception is not too good, but patience will produce the needed coordinates. The listed coordinates are averages of two units over a period of three days.
