Geocache Description:

China stone was quarried and milled in the Valley from c.1870 until 1965 when the mills were abandoned but the remains of five china stone mills can still be seen. The sites include Trevear Mill with attached pan-kiln and miller's cottage, and Big Wheel Mill with associated tramways and leats.

The Tregargus Valley is of exceptional importance in the history of china stone extraction.Conservation of the area has been carried out by the Tregargus Valley Trust.

From suggested parking area it is appproximately 1 km to cache site.Cache is small tupperware box with usual trading items and small notepad. After visiting the cache site you can take the trail to the right which continues , via the road, to St.Stephen. Or alternatively take the route back alongside the stream(wellies required for crossing!)
