Geocache Description:

You will be able to walk along disused roads and paths which are abandoned, overgrown and may be in disrepair!

This cache is located in the abandoned grounds of Bangour Village Hospital.

Officially opened in 1906 as a psychiatric hospital it was used from 1915 as a military hospital. It reverted to a psychiatric hospital in 1922 and to commemorate it’s role during the war Bangour Village Church was erected and opened in 1929.
The church was recently featured in the movie ‘The Jacket’ produced by George Clooney!
The hospital was again used as a war hospital in 1939 along with the additional annexe which was to become Bangour General Hospital (now completely demolished).

Although there are plans to develop the old ‘villas’ which make up the hospital, at present there are no building works and the grounds are open to walkers and cyclists – the paths and roads have become overgrown in places and the gardens are being reclaimed by nature.

There are 2 possible entry points to the area:
PARKING at the main entrance to the hospital off the A89 is at N 55 55.061, W 003 32.971

ALTERNATE parking can be found in Dechmont main street or at N55 55.255, W 003 32.503

When you reach the co-ordinates of stage 1 you will need to find the answers to these questions to find the cache co-ordinates.
1.What date can you see in the wall? Answer=19AB
2.How many metal studs are on the lefthand side door at the main entrance? Answer=CD
