A legend says when our pets die, they go to the
Rainbow Bridge, to wait for us. It must be a grand place
with many happy reunions.
We lost our geodog Becky this year. She was the third of our
hiking and caching companions we have lost joining Murray and Toli
at the Rainbow Bridge. Their spots by our sides have been taken by
Gwen and Eva, but their memories live on.
This cache is a dedication cache for the four-legged, departed
companions of all cachers and hikers. If you are a dog person
please take a few moments to remember those past, loyal companions.
Think of the good times. Think of the happiness. Wish your
companions peace on their journey to the Rainbow Bridge.
This cache requires no trade. There is a stock of dog note pads
and dog photo frames. There is also a photo album. If you have a
spare photo of your departed companion and would like to leave it
for others to see, please feel free to leave one in the album. The
album will accept photos up to 4x6. Please remember that this is a
cache with all the risks and dangers of a cache. Please do not
leave one of a kind photos. From time to time, we will remove the
photos from the album long enough to scan the photos and post them
on this page. We will return the scanned photos. If you have a
digital file, you can post the photo and we will add it to the
page. The cache container is a fairly large Lock-N-Lock. Please be
very careful when closing the container to make certain that it is
closed so it remains dry.
The terrain is basically flat. Parking is on the side of the road
at the trailhead. There is space for about four cars. The
round-trip distance for the cache is about 3/4 mile. We are at our
property frequently and will be able to check any problems with the
cache.
When logging the cache, please include a pleasant note about your
departed companions. If you have a four-legged companion, please
take them for a walk to find this cache. Many people walk their
dogs on this trail. In addition, Irvine Flats and Anders Run are
very close by and great places for a pleasant walk. Your pet will
thank you.
Here’s to the hope that we meet our lost companions at the Rainbow
Bridge.
