This cache is dedicated to a very special person in my life
- My brother in law, RANGER21, on a special birthday.
This cache has been placed with much thought and with
several memories that I have growing up with RANGER21 in my life. I
have known him for 30 years and I think the world of him.
(A few more things, and I'll stop with the mushy stuff. LOL)
I picked this spot for a few reasons. For starters, him and his
wife were the people that got me started on this CrAzY hobby of
geocaching and my favorite cache that I have been on so far is
TRANQUILLITY of the Valley, located about 2/10ths of a mile from
here.
While coming to the actual cache site for THIS cache, this
area reminded me of a similar looking place that RANGER21 and I
went camping in a lean-to in, *MANY* years ago.
Lastly, many of you might see this cache as quite a bit of work
for a 35mm log. Right now, that's all it is. This is part of the
cache as well. RANGER21, to me, has forever been someone who
doesn't want flash and fireworks, but he IS a person who is very
much at home with nature and loves the outdoors. Wildlife as a
whole is where he seems to find solace. For this reason, I kept the
cache simplistic. (This may change at a later date). The true
treasure of this cache is the nature and quiet that this area
brings.
RANGER21 is my brother-in-law, a great friend, my Brother in
Christ, and someone that I look up to. I love you and I hope you
have a very happy birthday!
------------------------------------- WITH ALL THAT
BEING SAID: -------------------------------------
IMPORTANT: Take West Seneca Turnpike to the bottom of the
huge hill. At the bottom of the hill, there is a road named
Hopper Road. Turn onto Hopper Road and drive to the end. You
will see a dead end sign. The path starts just beyond that sign.
The cache is about four tenths of a mile from this sign and all
hints in the remainder of this page are assuming that you took this
entrance!
Enjoy the first two tenths. There might even be another cache on
the way!
As you continue on the path, you will pass a large pile of
sucker trees that were cleared out. (They remind me of sticks I
would use for walking/hiking sticks!) They are on the right side of
the path.
A bit further, and you will find 4 or 5 little trees that are
laying over the path as if to say "Stop!". Simply step over these
logs and notice all the large amounts of grape vines all around the
trees in this area. (Something you might use for a pet bird's
cage?)
Soon you will come to a fork in the path... Take the fork to the
right, even though we are both left-handed. You'll know it's the
correct side by the hollowed out log just laying by the side of the
path. (Looks a bit like a canoe, doesn't it?)
Next you will see two trees that just didn't make it. SIX, yes
SIX chipmunks were having a great time chasing each other around
these though.
Keep going... Keep going... The
path starts to turn left (finally) and starts going downhill.
(Yeah, for the lefties!!!)
Eventually, you will find a creek, with a piece of a guard rail
used to walk across the water. Directly on the other side of the
creek are two HUGE trees. Biggest trees in the area. Cache is
hidden in the "toe" of a "foot" of one of the trees. (I can see me
trying to build a lean-to here!)
I hope you all have a great time hunting for this cache! And
once again, Happy Birthday, RANGER21!!!
