Geocache Description:

Join us for a weekend away from the crowds. The event will be a potluck dinner at 6pm on Saturday July 8, 2006 at yellow post campsites 4&5 on Black Mountain in the San Jacinto area of the San Bernardino National Forest.

You will find yp4&5 approx 8 miles down forest service dirt road 4S01 off Highway 243 just North of Idyllwild. Two wheel drive is usually acceptable with good ground clearance. Four wheel drive makes the trip safer and there will be less tire spinning.

This is dry camping. There is no water, no restrooms, no showers, etc. You need to bring everything with you that you may need for the weekend. The campsites are at 7500' elevation. Be prepared for temperatures that may range from the low 40s to the high 80s.

We will be having 4x4 cache runs in the area both Saturday and Sunday leaving the campsite at 9am. On Saturday will will spend the morning on 4S01, 4S21 and 5S09. We will lunch in Idyllwild and the afternoon run will be determined by the local temperatures. Sunday we will spend the morning North on 4S01 and break camp around 1pm.
