This cache will expire on July 3rd, 2012
Wish I had some good colorful history for these caches, but we'll just have to settle for some nice hikes through the woods.
This is a multi-stage cache with 4 stages. It progresses from a nano to a micro to another micro to a regular cache final, this is the one that will make you earn a smiley. It should be started from the following parking coordinates: N40 30.512 W80 26.331 Take the connector trail to the Heritage Trail.
The coords above are for the first cache. It is a nano, and I think it's a good one...insert evil laugh here. I know, your thinking...a nano in the woods? It requires more thinking that looking...more observation than rootination (That's a madeup word for rooting around). Please note that I know a micro in the woods can be extremely frustrating even with dead-on coordinates. Using the hints provided will probably be of more use than the GPS when you are close. All cache stages are on/in or around (within 3 feet) of the hints given. Each hint should lead you to the obvious object. The tough part will be finding the cache itself. Again, it will take more thinking/observation that just tearing things up. In fact, tearing things up will make matters worse.
Stage 2 is also a tricky one, but not nearly as hard as it was originally. Believe me, I know how frustrating it can be to walk a mile or so and not find a cache. Don't take it out on the fauna. Look....think....observe. I will tell you that it is NOT buried, so rootination is again not necessary. Please be extra careful in replacing both stages 1&2 so that it appears as it did before you arrived.
Stage 3 is a little easier, but not a gimme. The final is a .30 ammo can and it should be a no-brainer after all your other work.
By the way, this cache is a long one. 4.24 miles according to my calculations. However, all stages of this cache shouldn't be bushwacked. You will not need to leave the trails at any time until you are within 150 feet of the cache stage. This will make the trip longer, but much easier.
I have included a link to a trail map that will definitely be of use to you: GPX FILE
This is the longest and hardest of the six caches I have placed in the park. You get this one, you deserve that smiley.
***AS OF 12/17/06, I HAVE BECOME AN ADVOCATE OF THE "DON'T LET THE CACHE SPOIL A GOOD HIKE" PHILOSOPHY. IF YOU WANT GUARANTEED SUCCESS ON ALL MICROS/NANOS OF THIS MULTI, EMAIL ME AND I'LL GIVE YOU FOOLPROOF CLUES TO EACH STAGE. I'M TIRED OF A DNF ON MICROS, SO I FIGURE I'D BETTER PUT MY MONEY WHERE MY MOUTH IS. CACHES ARE MEANT TO BE FOUND, NOT FRUSTRATING.
