Geocache Description:

Is located within the structure of an old dam. Getting down to what is left of the dam requires going down a steep, rocky hillside to the river. Not for kids or the elderly.

I was there today, (July 15th and found the box gone and the contense strewn on dhe rocks down below. What can I say, there are some really STUPID people in the world. It's a very interesting place, go there any way. The Eileene Dam was built over 100 years ago to supply power to a mine near by from the Moyie River. One end of the dam gave way before it ever produced a killowat of power. The project was abandoned. It's a fascinating bit of historical exploring.

Go 5.5 miles east of the junction of Highways 2 and 95, on 95. This is north of Bonners Ferry. Turn north on Moyie River Road.

The first waypoint is W48 46.729 W116. 09.675 (this is +-16 feet accuracy) Go across the tracks, straight ahead. A 4WD with good clearance required or walk 1/2 mile.

At W48 46.547, N116 09.390 step across the downed trees and follow trail down to river.

In this picture, you can see the steep rocky hillisde that leads down to the river. It's a tricky trip down.

A standard ammo box is under rocks at N48 46.505 W116 09.394 (+-15 feet accuracy)

Inside you'll find photo CDs containing over 70 senic pictures from around Northern Idaho. Take one with you.
