"You can reach out and touch it!"
This is what we said when we saw the view here of Mt. Rainier. The mountain appears to be very close. This cache should be visited on a clear day in order to appreciate the view. The cache is an ammo box located in the Evan's Creek ORV trail area.
The easiest approach to this cache is from Evan's Creek Campground. Trail 311A starts from within the campground at the coordinates below.
NOTE: A NORTHWEST FOREST PASS IS REQUIRED IF YOU ARE GOING TO PARK IN THE CAMPGROUND! ALSO, THE CAMPGROUND IS CLOSED FROM DECEMBER 1 THROUGH APRIL 15.
The one-way journey is slightly less than 1 mile down the trail to the cache. You can hike the trail or ride a mountain bike, quad, or motorcycle. If you wish to drive, we'd recommend high clearance and 4WD. The trail is fairly flat but it may be muddy and rutted in places. It is also slightly overgrown, so don't bring your new SUV if you care about the paint job!
If you wish to continue down the trail past the cache be aware that the trail gets rougher with a couple of short steep sections that would be fairly easy to traverse on foot but difficult for most stock vehicles to get through. This rough section of trail eventually ends at the parking area at the entrance to the Evan's Creek ORV area.
