Ignore the posted co-ordinates
They only tell you that the cache is in Clayquot sound. The final cache location is within 1nm of the posted co-ordinates.
To get to this cache you will have to travel about 8nm (one way) by boat from Tofino.
You will need a chart of the area available at most marine stores/fuel docks etc. The chart you are looking for is 3673.
You will also need the List of Lights, buoys, and fog signals
To find the final cache location-
Starting at the posted co-ordinates, find co-ordinates for the nearest year round light that flashes white, once every 4 seconds, with a nominal range of 7nm. From the light's listed co-ordinates, follow a course of 77.1221 degrees.
Next find the only light on chart 3673 that flashes a white light once every 10 seconds. From the listed co-ordinates for that light, follow a course of 336.3568 degrees.
Where these two lines cross, you will find tha cache.
Note- All compass courses are in “True North” using WGS-84 and GRS-80 ellipsoid.
This is currently the only cache that falls in to square 92E1 for the Vancouver Island Topo Challenge
