Cactus Cottage Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

pawbell: Alas this cache has reached the end of its days. Unfortunately it had been
muggled and most of it was missing. I'm afraid too much to try and restore
it. It was fun while it lasted but it is going to the great cache resting
place. Maybe some one else can place something here in the future. Thank
you all for supporting it while it was active....

Geocache Description:

The Cactus Cottage was built by Hubert H. Bancroft, owner of Helix Farms, a large olive grove in Spring Valley. It was built in 1889 to accomodate his family on their summer visits to the ranch.

This is a multi cache and has three locations. The first 2 are micro's containing coord's to the next location and suggested parking, The third is an ammo container.

The first is at the coord's above near the Cactus Cottage. Just a short walk or drive south down the intersecting street will bring you to it. It is on the left of the circle with a light green roof. The all around porch has been completely enclosed over the years no doubt to enlarge the house. This cache contains the coord's to #2 and a suggested parking location for #2 & #3.

The # 2 location is on a narrow winding street that is lightly traveled. Be very careful and watch for cars and cactuses (or is it cactii). This location is a small M & M container hanging around or in. If you look in the yard to your right in the bushes you will see a large rock thing that looks like a behive, it is an Olla. When it was first built it was all rock and a later owner added the thing on top, It was originally used for water storage for the ranch. This cache contains the coord's for the final location.

Location #3 in an ammo can provided by SlabyFam as well as the excellent swag inside. Again be careful on this narrow street. This cache is hidden low enough to be reached from the edge of the street without any hill climbing. Yet its concealed well enough to make it a little tough to find, Good luck and happy caching. There is a first to find prize of state quarters.

This cache is not recommended for night time caching as it is in a residential area. Also be very careful on the narrow street and watch for Cactii.

Additional information on both the Cactus Cottage and the Olla can be obtained at the Spring Valley Historic Society on Memory Ln.

Special note of thanks to SlabyFam for providing #3 cache and swag.
