Geocache Description:

This is a two stage puzzle cache located in a little known nature trail.

This is a cache about plants. To make the cache a bit more unusual, I tied in a bit of ancient mythology by naming it after the Celtic Fairy Goddess Airmid. In ancient time, herbs were the only medicines that existed, so a person who knew plants very often was also the village healer. Some plants actually do help... If you don't believe me, look up where aspirin was originally found. So, the myth about Airmid is both about a botanist and a healer...

Airmid is best known as an herbalist, and therefore, may be associated with these green gifts of the earth. Airmid's association with herbalism is illustrated in the story of her discovery of the 365 healing herbs growing upon her brother's grave - one herb to cure illnesses of each of the 365 nerves of the human body as well as one for each and every day of the year. She gathered these carefully in her cloak, but unfortunately, her jealous father mixed them up so that their applications would not be known.

This cache is a combination of a multi-cache and a puzzle cache. Coordinates posted are to the first stage that provide the clues to the second stage. It shouldn't be hard, the answers are all in the park, but it will require you to walk around the entire trail and to pay attention to the plants, just as Airmid did. Total walking length from parking area is less than one mile. First stage is a small cache with the worksheets for the coordinate puzzle inside. Bring your own pencil please. Last stage is a regular ammo can with trade items. Original contents include: Tinker Bell Travel Bug, watch, movie, love coupon book, hair braiding book, pocket poker game, night light, hair scrunchy, book cover, back massager.

Parking is available if you enter from the University Dr. side. This is a Texas A&M University facility, but parking is free. Please park in the area for “Herbarium Parking”. There is a no trespassing sign posted at the entrance to the driveway off of University Dr, but this facility is open to the public and I have obtained permission from the managing agency to place the cache in the park. If you have questions regarding this location, please call the Texas Cooperative Wildlife Collection at 979.845.5783 and talk to Heather Prestridge. (She thought that the sign was old and related to what the facility was used for more than 10 years ago, it has since changed usage...)
