The main trailhead is at N 44° 49.294
W 085° 27.415, which is just off of US 31 on Yuba Road. There
is a sign at the trailhead that contains more information
about the eagles. The eagle's nest is in a large pine tree
about 800 - 1,000 feet from the viewing area. Between the
viewing area and the nest there is a large swampy area and
Yuba Creek. The trail to the viewing area parallels Yuba
Creek and is on higher ground that is both relatively level
and dry. When you get to the cache site, the nest is directly
to the east. You can easily see the nest without any
obstructing views.
The first time we went out to the Yuba
Creek Nature Preserve, both of the eagles circled directly above us
and appeared to be curiously checking us out. It was an awesome
sight. On the way back, one of the eagles had landed in a tree
along the trail. When we walked by the tree it was in, we startled
each other and the eagle took off. That was an experience we will
never forget!!
