A child-freindly cache located at the Wapsi River Environmental Center.
After the onslaught of micro caches recently, SpaceCowboy and I decided that it was time for a regular size cache hide in the area. We also felt the need to place a child-friendly cache as well.
The theme of this cache is animal based and has been named "Animal House" because we would like finders of this cache to only trade animal toys. However, we welcome travel bugs of any type.
The easiest way to this cache location is to drive all of the way into the park and park your vehicle on the paved parking area by the Eagle View Eco Center. The cache is located a short distance off one of the main trails in the park. The entrance of the trail is well marked and can be located just off of the southwest corner of the Eagle View Eco Center. The original cache contents contain many small plastic animal figures.
After locating the cache, we encourage you to visit the Eagle View Eco Center to view more animals, both living and museum displayed exhbits. The staff is always very friendly and informative. The center is open on Saturday and Sunday during April - October from 1:00PM - 5:00PM and on Saturdays only during November - March from 1:00PM - 5:00PM. Admission is free.
There are also picnic areas nearby if you should want to take a break for lunch and enjoy the sites and sounds of nature.
Note:
As stated above, this is a large ammo box regular cache. Even with several attempts at getting exact cache coordinates, heavy tree cover may cause fluctuations. However, the listed coordinates should get you within 20 feet or better and the cache location should not be difficult to locate.
