Geocache Description:

This is a full-sized cache (ammo box) in a beautiful area!

This cache is near Rabun Beach Campground #2. Park at N34.45.667, W083.28.370. If the gate is closed and you can't get in, you can park outside the gate and walk in. There is a fee for parking in the campground area. Or you can park at a trailhead at N34 45.627, W083 28.212 at no charge and walk just a little farther. (note: We corrected these coordinates on Sep 17, 2016)

Two beautiful waterfalls await you! First you'll pass Panther Falls, about a half mile up the trail. Head on from there to Angel Falls, about another half mile. You'll get to the cache before you get to Angel Falls, but the Falls are only .15 miles on up the trail, and definitely worth the short hike! This cache is not hard to find at all. The point of the cache is more to see the falls, rather than a difficult search. The difficulty rating was originally 1, but we increased it to 2 because more downed trees and growing vegetation make it a bit harder to spot. You should be able to get to it without tromping on delicate undergrowth (there are some ferns nearby, at least there were in the summer, so be careful not to step on them). See the encrypted hint if you want more.

The 3-1/2 star terrain is because the trail is fairly steep in places. For the most part, it's a nice, wide, gentle climb. Elevation gain from parking to the cache is about 350 feet. From the cache to Angel Falls is 150 foot gain.

NOTE: We had a fairly strong signal when we scouted the place and got the coordinates. When we went back to place the cache, it was early in the morning, a lot of humidity in the air, so we couldn't lock onto many satellites. Be aware that tree cover, etc. may affect your signal.

Note: to meet USFS requirements for caches placed in the Chattahoochee National Forest the cache is marked as a geocache, is labeled with the GCX289 waypoint number and the cache owner's e-mail address.
