This cache will take you to Falkefangerhøgda (english: Falcon
catcher hill). On this hill there is an old site used to catch
falcons, that were to be used for falconry. The site was in use in
the last part of the 1600s, probably by dutchmen.
The facility was reconstructed in 1992 to more or less its
original state. At the site you will find several information
posts, telling the history of falconry and and how the falcons were
caught.
From the parking place there is a well marked footpath going all
the way up the hill. The walk up will take you no more than 15
minutes, walking slow and enjoying the sights. On the hill you will
have a beautiful panoramic view of a large part of highlands around
Jotunheimen.
Access to the site is from Jotunheimvegen, a scenic route
between Skåbu and Bygdin. It is a toll road and is closed in the
winter period. There is one charge for driving the entire stretch
of road, and a lower charge for local traffic. If starting from the
Skåbu side and returning the same way, you only have to pay for
local traffic.
The cache is a small container, with log sheet, pencil, FTFC and
some trade items.
