To find John Dean's treasure, you will have to first visit four other caches in the park:

The Bearded Peanut

If you have visited all four of these caches, you should have a date, a set of starting coordinates and a bearing. The cache can be found along this bearing at a distance of "the date" minus 1421 (in metres).
