Project A.P.E. mission 13: the missing links Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Access from Pottery Rd Lenah Valley. Shows an old fossil bed on Fossil Hill ( a name that has disapeared from current tourist maps - look under your feet as you walk the trail.) In case you can't spot them ( and it does take a bit of a trained eye) we left some on top of hide and superb local specimens occur naturally in front of the cache. All about A.P.E. GCTK7X

Once again field agents have uncovered a valuable cache of ancient artifacts. Above the pre-Jurassic layer is a more modern deposit of alternate evolutionary origin including anthropod lifeforms in stasis and bizarre currency of highly ornamental nature. These 'geocoins' are active and emitting a tracking signal - presumably to the long vanished mother ship. Agents are instructed to retrieve these and other artifacts (no trade necessary ) and log their completed mission.

Field agents notes:
Dogs often walked here as it is so close to houses. Please rehide very carefully and weight down with small specimens. The nearby caches are noted for the lousy GPS reception - could only get 7 m accuracy - raining and overcast (well this is a Hobart cache :) Please look at the photos - they will also help you to see the fossils. A magnificent specimen was naturally exposed just in front of perfect tree hollow ONLY 0.5 m FROM TRACK on LEFT as you DESCEND track. The area has benefited from a controlled burn recently and the wildflowers are already a beautitiful carpet. Take compass and mark trails carefully if you are seeking the nearby caches as the area is a maze of trails in gullies - one could be lost even 300m from the road!
