Lanes of Blair Crock Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

BackPAQer: Time to free up some space in Black Rock for new caches. The GZ is now a bit overgrown and kids love playing in here...seems the homeless guy has gone...but I'd be worried about snakes now. I checked on the bucket and it is no longer there either.

Geocache Description:

The Lanes of Blair Crock is where I grew up and spent many hours riding my bike through the various shortcuts around my house. This path is best suited for a bike ride and sticks mainly to back streets with only a few crossings of main roads.

While you can do this in a car, you will travel approximately 6-8 times further than you would on a bike (or on foot). A bike will travel approx 2.5km (uphill with a nice downhill ride back to your car).

WP1 - Fourth Street and Clarice Becketts Lane

AA = The number of the house next to the start of the lane.

(note: it's a two digit number and both digits are not the same)
You can ride up this lane all the way to Second Street. It used to run all the way up to First Street but it's now built over. While a car will make it to Third Street, I doubt you'll make it through to Second! Maybe if you don't like your paintwork.

From here you can turn left towards Central Avenue, then right to Balcombe Road. Once at Balcombe Road, head for St Joseph's which will lead you on to WP2.

WP2 - Champion Street (S37 58.465 E145 01.376)

B = What colour are the lamp posts in this lane?
White = 6
Galvanised (Grey/Silver) = 8
Black = 4

C = How many lamp posts are in this lane?

And on we go to WP3 - Ardoyne Street (S37 58.315 E145 01.298). I lived in this street for nearly 16 years, a great place for kids, not much traffic)

D = How many vertical treated pine posts are there at either end of this lane? Only consider the posts actually in the lane...not outside the lane on the naturestrip (note: answer is 16...the lane has been changed a little and this is the answer that has thrown most people off...now I wonder how many people will read this and realise they could have skipped a step)

WP4 - St Andrews. (S37 57.963 E145 01.229)
It used to be easy to take a shortcut through Black Rock Primary School, but that's not advisable now. Just follow the bike path around the school, it's not too far. This street used to be the old Semco factory (crafts). As a 7yo schoolkid, I can still remember playing in this area just after they tore it down and finding all sorts of beads, tiles and other goodies.

E = What is the colour of the letterbox at number 24?

White = 1
Green = 2
Red = 3
Brown = 4

WP5 - Now, through to the other side of the lane
(S37 57.960 E145 01.192)

F = what is the House number here? (it is a two digit number)

WP6,7,8 - The fastest way between these 3 points is definitely by using the lanes!
WP6 (S37 57.769 E145 01.192)

G = The number on the pole (plastic yellow tag, 7 digit number)

WP7 (S37 57.775 E145 01.253)

H = The number on the pole (plastic yellow tag, 7 digit number)

WP8 (S37 57.783 E145 01.311)

I = The number on the pole (plastic yellow tag, 7 digit number)

J = The average DIFFERENCE between G & H and H & I

WP9 - The playground (S37 57.670 E145 01.346)

K = The number of wooden bollards around the park?
JUST KIDDING!!!!
But let me know if you get the number :-)

Now, onto the cache...that's what we're all here for!
