This cache, located in Pinecrest Gardens, is dedicated to the memory of Parrot Jungle. In 2003, this South Florida attraction moved away to Watson Island near downtown Miami. Too bad, they left a beautiful park and 70 years of history behind.
The good news is that Pinecrest continues to grow and nourish this park. It contains lots of trees, greenery, walking paths, streams, a petting zoo and water play area.
This is our second cache in the area. We hope it draws more foot traffic. As you might expect, located in the former Parrot Jungle and named "Excellent Birds", the cache is loaded with bird themed items. Please keep the theme alive and make it "kid fun and friendly"
The container is now a army ammunition box, after the last cache container went missing.
2010 Update: Park officials gave me the remains of "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Magellan Adventure #24". I've added their logs to the permanent contents of "Excellent Birds". Their spirit lives on!
We hope you will ensure the safety and well being of this cache's surroundings. There is no need to trample any plants. Just a quick reach should do it...
The park is open 9AM to 6PM daily.
