Shrimper's Delight, Rita's Redux! Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mudfrog: Finally got to go out and check on this one. Unfortunately, we couldn't find it. The island has changed a bunch and is grown up to where you need a machete or dozer to get through. I did make it to ground zero and searched pretty well but didn't find anything. Sure wanted to rescue the travelbugs that are listed as being in the cache. Sorry that they are now lost but i guess mother nature (hurricane Ike) got the best of us this time.

Geocache Description:

We placed the original Shrimper's Delight back on September 5 of 2005. It was found by only one person, hit man of the Port Arthur area on Sept 9th. This was just 2 weeks before hurricane Rita came ashore and wiped it out. Well, it took us a while but here's our new and improved,,,, Shrimper's Delight, Rita's Redux!

This is a two stage multicache that is not hard to find at all. That is, if you have a boat!

The coordinates above will take you to the first stage where you'll find the information needed to locate the final cache. Take your time here as there are underwater obstructions that could cause problems, especially when the tide is low. The cache stages themselves are pretty straight forward and should be easy to locate once you secure a means for making the wet crossing. The final stage consists of a small ammocan filled with saltwater fishing tackle, travel size first aid type kits, and a couple of items for the kiddos. As always, please sign the logbook while there and don't forget to log your find here at GC.com.

Note that you might want to bring the bugspray along as i did notice a few skeeters hovering about near the final. Also, we decided to try some fishing after placing the final. Fished about 300 feet from it and within 30 minutes, ended up catching a couple of keeper flounder, a nice speck (19"), and a few sand trout. Plenty for a good fish fry so you might want to bring your rod and reel too!

Goodluck!

BONUS! We've included three different geocoins as finder's prizes. Take one if you wish, no trade necessary, but please leave any that are left for the next cacher who might come along.
