The Fallacious Fable
Don Juan Ponce de Leon arrived in America with Columbus on his second voyage, 1493. Leon and his fellows, not Columbus, completed Spain's claim to the New World. Historians do not unanimously honor at full value the beautifully romantic story that Ponce was seeking to find the fountain of youth. Yet it was not incredible to men of that day - when the very existence of a New World was hardly believable to those who had not seen it with their own eyes - that those who had touched these shores should believe in greater magic in this strange realm. And certainly there is no legend more appropriate to the beginning of America than that this new land should offer men a vision of eternal youth.
The Unsoiled True Prunetucky Version
Since those guys didn't have GPS capability. How do we REALLY know that de Leon actually landed in Florida? If they did have GPS, they probably had that other brand. You know, the brand you don't have and wouldn't own. He clearly would not have picked Florida over Prunetucky. They've got mosquitos there and I've heard it's really hot and humid. Plus, the mountain biking really sucks. The highest point in Florida is only 300 feet. Har! My little sister could climb 300 feet.
Naw!! Ponce de Leon landed in Prunetucky! He dropped all those other names, got a tattoo, and just went by 'Leon'. He came right up Elkhorn Slough. That fountain that everyone talks about... It's right up there in Manzanita Park. You could go get a drink out of it anytime you wanted.
CONGRATULATIONS Hotshoe! "#653 ...Thanks for the nice FTF prize"
