Geocache Description:

A favourite walk, one hill, with a good view at the end

This walk is west of Henley in Arden near the hamlet of Morton Bagot. There are a few ways to approach this cache via footpaths, 2 cache and dash and one for a longer circular walk - refer to the Ordnancy Survey map.The cache is just off the Heart of England Way. There is limited parking near the beginning of the various footpaths. There are one or two stiles and one steep climb whichever way you approach. It can be muddy after rain. The cache can only be reached from INSIDE the wood but you may have to go outside to get a good GPS reading. Bannam's wood is on the top of a hill with incredible views and on a clear day you can see as far as the two Ilmington radio masts in the Cotswolds. Morton Bagot itself is a very small parish and there is virtually no village. The church itself is at Church Farm (N52 16.845 W001 50.221) it has not been restored but is worth a visit. It dates from 1300 with the wooden bell turret erected about 1600. The manor was held by William Bagot in the reign of Edward 1 and it is from him that the parish takes its name. Henley in Arden is only 3 and a half miles away with all its pubs, ice creams and buildings of historical interest. The cache is a small sized tupperware box with the usual bits and pieces.
