Este cache
conmemora el primer evento de Geocaching celebrado en la Comunidad
de Madrid, que con el nombre 'Geocaching Arena 2006', tuvo lugar en
las inmediaciones del Puerto de Canencia, el día 1 de Julio de
2006.

conmemorates the first Geocaching event celebrated in the Community
of Madrid, with the name 'Geocaching Arena 2006', which took place
in the environs of the Mountain of Canencia, The 1st of July
2006.

El paraje denominado
"Peñas de los Altares" fue uno de los puntos que
originariamente habíamos barajado como candidato a esconder uno de
los nuevos caches preparados para el evento, pero finalmente se
descartó a favor del recorrido por la zona Oeste del Puerto de
Canencia.
Con la presencia del
cache conmemorativo del evento, este pintoresco emplazamiento queda
rescatado del olvido, a la vez que nos invita y sirve de excusa
para realizar una ruta por la zona Este del puerto. El cache se
puede alcanzar tras un agradable y sencillo paseo de algo más de
media hora de duración. |
| Probablemente el topónimo del lugar haga referencia a la
similitud de las numerosas piedras caballeras que se dispersan por
la zona, con las Piedras Sacras o Altares, característicos de las
civilizaciones celtíberas prerromanas (Carpetanos, Vetones...), de
las cuales nos quedan algunas muestras en el entorno de la Sierra
de Guadarrama.
El CD no es objeto de cambio,
puede retirarse una copia por cada equipo visitante. Tampoco es
necesario haber participado en el evento para retirar una
copia.
Aquellos participantes residentes
fuera de Madrid, pueden ponerse en contacto en privado conmigo y
les haré llegar una copia por correo postal
ordinario. |
El cache contiene, aparte de los
regalos que dejasteis y el Log-Book firmado por todos los equipos
participantes en el evento, 15 copias de un CD conmemorativo, con
una selección de las fotos que nos habéis hecho llegar.

The place denominated "Rocks of
the Altars" was one of the points which originally we had
considered as a candidate to hide one of the new caches prepared
for the event, but finally it was discarded in favor of the route
by the West of the Mountain of Canencia. With the presence now of
the memorial cache of the event, this colorful location is rescued
of the forgetfulness, and also it invites and it serves to us as an
excuse to do a route by the East zone of the mountain, to reach
therefore the cache after a pleasant and easy walk of something
more of half an hour of duration.
Probably the name of the place
makes reference to the similarity of the numerous stones that are
disperse by the place with the Sacred Stones or Altars,
characteristic of the Pre-Roman civilizations living in the area
(Carpetanos, Vetones...), of which we have some samples in the
surroundings of the Mountain range of Guadarrama.
The cache contains, apart from the gifts that you left and the
Log-Book signed by all the participants in the event, 15 copies of
a commemorative CD, with a selection of the photos that you have
sent us. The CD is not a trade object, each team can take one copy.
It is not either necessary to have participated in the event to
take a copy. Those participants living outside Madrid, can contact
to me in private and I will send them a copy by ordinary postal
mail.
