Geocache Description:

Easy, traditional cache found in a Port Hills suburb.

Update Jan 2010: The Love Shack gets tagged and then painted from time to time. When the cache was created, the structure in question had the phrase "Love Shack" painted above the door. That's under several coats by now.

Despite the name, this Mount Pleasant cache is suitable for the whole family. It’s in a public reserve that also contains a playground, tennis court, basketball hoop, water fountain, toilets and a large green that is popular with dog walkers.

The cache is easily found from a carpark, but the more interesting approach is via another park entrance at 43° 33.986, 172° 42.795. If this approach is chosen, walk up the large green to a bench at 43° 34 015, 172 42.836. The view is northwest over the city and in almost all weather includes the Alps. The bench was placed by the Ferrymead Rotarians and a plaque invites people to view “progress made on the Canterbury Plains during the first 150 years of European settlement”. Mull progress, then proceed to the cache further up the hill.

Look for a camo-painted 1.2-litre snap-lock plastic box. There's often broken glass at the GZ.
