Geocache Description:

This one is almost a drive-by cache, but despite the name, the cache is NOT placed on the churchyard.

granitkvadre. Til kirken er senere bygget et våbenhus. Stilen er
romansk.
opsat igen engang i september 2006.
1536.

ENGLISH : At a hillside close to Vorgod Å,a small casehardent
church from the 12th century is situated. The choir and the nave
are made of granite squares. Later on the porch has been added to
the church. The church is in romanesque design and the south door
has been bricked up. The church bell, one of the oldest church
bells in Denmark, is placed in a bell frame; the following
inscription has been engraved: "I det herrens år 1329 lavede Poul
mig" ("In the year of our Lord 1329 I was made by Poul") Just now
(juli 2006) a repairwork is going on, and the bell frame will be
raised again sometime around september 2006. Then there will be 2
bells in the bell frame, 1 new bell for automatic chime and
offcourse the old bell. Inside the church, the baptismal font, made
of granite, is placed and most likely, it is as old as the church
itself. The present christening plate is made of pewter; in 1955,
it was donated by the Danish Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs,
Jens Sønderup and his wife, both of them is now buried on the
churchyard. The altar piece is from 1697; the main theme is the
Foundation of the Holy Communion. A minister´s bench from 1585 has
been placed in the choir. The pulpit is in Baroque design, dated
back to 1700 and the sounding board is a copy of a previous one. In
1935, the votive ship "Dannebrog" was donated by Eli Jepsen. The
ship is 75 cm long. In 1986 - 87, the church was thoroughly
restored. In the church, you can also see a plate on the wall,
telling the names of the parishes of the church, since the danish
reformation in 1536.
