Geocache Description:

3 part multicache. First part is on the Granville Country Store front, (home of Granville Cheese), across from the Granville Town Green. Second part is a number on one of Noble & Cooley buildings. Parkng at the third part is on the side of the road across from the trail to cache. Watch out crossing the road!

In January of 1854, Silas Noble and James P. Cooley started making drums in the Noble farmhouse kitchen. Their drum was an immediate success. In a few weeks they moved into a small building and after 2 years built their first factory. In 1860 they made a drum of a rail split by Abraham Lincoln. They also made the largest drum on record, 8 feet in diameter. They not only made Military Drums of all sizes but also toy drums. The business is still owned and operated by the descendants of James P. Cooley and retains the original firm name. They still make what is called "The World's Best Drums", for many of today's Rock Bands. Standing at the coordinates listed above and facing the store, you will find listed above the entrance the years and names of all the owners. Using the last year of ownership by J.M. Gibbons and sons, take the last 3 numbers of the year and subtract 491 to get the final North coordinates, N42 03.XXX. At N42 03.775 W72 51.852 find the number on the corner of the building. Add this number to 150 to get the final West coordinates W72 52.YYY.
