Under New Management Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Brainerd Bunch: I'm sorry to have to archive this cache. I'm finding less and less time to maintain it and now being 7 months pregnant with two young children already in tow, I know finding time isn't going to get any easier! I hope people will still enjoy this park, as it's one of the greatest little "secrets" of North Augusta. Maybe I can replace the cache again someday....

Geocache Description:

This cache was originally called "The Travel Bug Family" and was placed by Brules. We took over this cache (with permission) because it was our first find ever! It is a fairly easy find in a beautiful park.

The cache is located in the beautiful Living History Park where the annual “A Day to Remember: Colonial Times Encampment" takes place. This event, which occurs the 3rd weekend of October, was selected as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events in 2000. It has recently been listed as part of the Heritage Corridor Tour.
Fourteen years ago this site was an overgrown, swampy area used by the city as a dumping site. The Olde Towne Preservation Association (OTPA), a non-profit organization, wanted to restore the land in order to preserve the heritage and character of North Augusta and the surrounding area. The City of North Augusta partnered with OTPA to develop the Living History Park that we now enjoy today.
The park represents North Augusta and the surrounding area in the 1716-1785 era, a period during which this area played a vital role in development of the colonies through Indian trade. The Encampment brings this time period to life in a way that is both educational and entertaining for children and adults.
When the Encampment and other events are not taking place, this is a beautiful, quiet place to relax and enjoy the natural springs. Read more about the park and its events at www.colonialtimes.us

Please be careful when finding and replacing the cache! We don't want this one to get stolen, too. It's a mason jar in a zip-lock bag. This is a new container that we are trying out. Please make sure to seal it back tightly and let us know of any water sneaking in. USE THESE COORDINATES: N 33'29.754 AND W 081'58.445 if the original ones don't take you to it.

*If you found this cache when it was "The Travel Bug Family" feel free to go and find it again. It's in the same park, but in a new hiding place.*
