Geocache Description:

This is the second puddle-jumper that I have flown on. Compared to the Jetstream 31, it's a much better aircraft.

The SAAB 340 is an interesting aircraft in that when it starts its engines, they always turn at the same rate. Thrust is controlled by modifying the pitch of the props. Several aircraft now operate the same way, including our Lockheed C-130.

This particular flight was from LBB to DFW. It was uneventful save for me making a big deal about being able to navigate by the stars (it was a night flight). What struck me about this aircraft is that it is significantly quieter than the Jetstream 31. I'll still avoid it, but I'll take it over the 31 any day. The only hiccup encountered was on our landing roll-out. We were going down the runway at about 80-90ish knots when our aircraft noticeably jerked to the right. It seems that our captain kicked the rudder when he shouldn't have. It resulted in nothing, and we got off at the little DFW satellite terminal with no problems.
