Bei diesem Cache handelt es sich um einen Traditional-Cache, der euch auf die Dachsteinsüdwandhütte führt. Bis zum Cache braucht man in etwa eine halbe Stunde. Ihr müsst die Wege, bis auf die letzten Meter zum Cache nie verlassen. Festes Schuhwerk und Trittsicherheit ist anzuraten.

Am besten ihr parkt euer Auto (falls ihr halt mit dem Auto unterwegs seid) bei den angegebenen Parkkoordinaten. Der Parkplatz liegt auf einer Höhe von etwa 1680m und ist nur über eine Mautpflichtige Strasse zu erreichen.

Von den Parkkoordinaten aus geht man rechts an der Talstation vorbei und findet dort den markierten Weg zur Südwandhütte, dem man bis oben folgt.

Der Cache selbst befindet sich auf 1905m, ein kleines Stück über der Südwandhütte am Weg zur Hunerscharte-Hoher Dachstein Nr.615. Dieser beginnt hinter der Südwandhütte.

Für den Rückweg bietet sich eigentlich nur der Weg an von dem ihr gekommen seid. Für Alpinisten stünde natürlich der Weg offen von hier aus den Dachstein zu besteigen und dabei den 9 Summits - Steiermark und den Dachstein Skywalk mit zu machen und dann mit der Gondel zum Parkplatz zurückzukehren.

Die Idee hinter denen von uns platzierten Caches in dieser Region ist es, diese in einer Wanderung zu verbinden. Der Brandriedel ist der erste dieser Runde. Von dort aus gehts weiter zu Südwandhütte, von der aus man entweder dem Weg nach rechts bergab zur Bachlalm - Neustadtalm - Glösalm Nr.68-671 folgt oder den nicht markierten Weg nach links über den Kamm folgt und sich dort immer rechts haltet, bis ein Weg nach rechts durch den Wald abzweigt, der dann auf den weg zur Bachlalm stößt. Zweiteres ist nicht empfehlenswert, da der Weg nur schwer zu finden ist und keinen Vorteil bringt. Auf dem Weg zur Bachlalm bleibt man solange bis man in einer Entfernung von etwa 100m zum Cache auf einen Bach trifft. Hier gibts wieder zwei Möglichkeiten. Entweder quert man hier den Bachlauf, je nach Wasserstand möglich oder nicht und folgt dem dahinter liegenden etwas schlecht ersichtlichen Weg zum zweiten Bachlauf, über den eine Brücke führt. Nun ist man schon beinahe beim Märchenwiesen Cache. Oder die zweite Möglichkeit, man folgt dem Weg weiter zur Bachlalm und trifft cirka 100m weiter bachabwärts auf die Stelle wo die beiden Bachläufe zusammenlaufen und wo eine Brücke über beide führt. Nach der Brücke folgt man dem GPS wieder bergaufwärts bis zum Cache. Von hier aus gehts dann retour über die Brandalm zum Gasthaus Edelbrunn. Wir haben für die gesamt Runde mit Pausen und Mittagessen cirka 6 Stunden benötigt. Der Höhenunterschied vom niedrigsten Punkt (Gasthaus Edelbrunn) zum höchsten Punkt (Südwandhütte) beträgt in etwa 570m. Mit etwa 750m die man bergaufsteigen muss sollte man insgesamt rechnen.

This Cache is a Traditional-Cache which will lead you to the Dachsteinsüdwandhütte. It will take you about half an hour to get to the Cache. You will not have to leave the paths up to the last meters before the Cache. It is advisable to wear a pair of sturdy shoes which offer you a safe walk.

It would be best if you park your car (if you go by car) at the given parking coordinates. The car parking is located at an altitude of 1680 meters and can only be reached by a toll road.>/p>

Starting at the parking coordinates you have to pass the base terminal on the right side. There you will find a marked path leading to the Südwandhütte. Follow this path to the top.

The Cache is located at an altitude of 1905 meters, a little way uphill form the Südwandhütte on the way to the Hunerscharte-Hoher Dachstein nr. 615. This path starts right behind the Südwandhütte.

For your way back you actually have to stick to the same path you took before because there is actually no other possibility. For the alpinists among you there is of course also the possibility to climb the Dachstein and do the 9-Summits-Steiermark as well and then to return by the cable railway.

The idea behind the Caches we have hidden in this region is to connect these to a hiking route. The Brandriedel is the first in this round. From there on you get to the Südwandhütte from where on you can either take the path on the right downhill to Bachlalm – Neustadtalm- Glöslalm Nr. 68-671, or you take the left path which leads over the ridge and which always sticks to the right until another path goes right through the woods. This path then meets the path to Bachlalm. The later possibility is not advisable because the path can hardly be found and it does not give you any advantage.

Taking the path to Bachlalm you have to stick to it until you get to a brook which is about 100 meter away form the Cache. Again you have two possibilities. The first is to cross the brook, depending on its amount of water, and then follow the quite bad visible path behind it up to the second brook which has a bridge. Now you are already at the Märchenwiesen Cache. The second possibility is to follow the path towards Bachlalm. After about 100 meters downstream you will get to a place where the two brooks meet and where there is a bridge leading over both. After having passed the bridge follow the GPS uphill up to the Cache. From here on you have to go back via the Brandalm to Gasthaus Edelbrunn. The whole route took us about 6 hours including breaks and lunch. The difference in altitude from the lowest point (Gasthaus Edelbrunn) to the highest point (Südwandhütte) is about 570 meters. You have to expect to go uphill for about 750 meters.
