Clearcut clearview Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

WE7X: The logs are soaked, the original 'LOG' container has rotted away, and the 'clear' view has pretty much gone away with reforestation, although the view of Mt. Rainier is still pretty nice on a decent day. It is time to put this cache to rest.
Thanks for all the great comments over the years!

Geocache Description:

This is a 1.7 mile, mostly uphill to nearly 1100 feet, climb on a graded road and good trail, except for the last 50 yards to the cache.

This Taylor Mountain area is a quite new King County park.

I found out about a new trail just completed this spring, and have hiked up to this area several times to view the sunsets. It is about a two hour hike if you need to rest occasionally, and can easily be done in an hour and half if you are in reasonable hiking shape.
There are no facilities or water along the route.
There are two other caches in the area, but the trails to those caches are temporarily closed due to active logging.
This cache is quite a bit farther up the road than the others, and offers very nice views to the South and West from the higher parts of the hike. Mt. Ranier is splendid from the from the cache site on a clear day.
The closest parking is on the Issaquah-Hobart Rd, just off State Highway 18 at exit 20. N47deg.25.976min W121deg.58.359min.
The Tiger Mountain Green Trails map shows many hiking trails in this area, which connect to other access points.

WP#1 N47deg,25.854 W121deg.57.039 A place to decide if you want to take the gravel trail or the gravel road, both on the left.
I would suggest planning to go at least on way on the trail to get the benefit of the views, but the trail eventually becomes the end of the old logging road, and makes a large loop.
The easiest access to the cache site is by following either the trail or the road until you are just about due north of the cache location. There is an obvious easy route through the brush from the road in that vicinity. No significant bushwhacking is needed. There are some nettles along the trail and road, but they are not encroaching enough to be a problem. I did not see any slugs this trip!
I hope you enjoy the area.
