A quick cache at a carpool lot.
Welcome to the starting point of the third annual Great Lord Simcoe 24 Hour Geocaching Marathon.
This carpool lot is the starting point for over a dozen geocachers that went geocaching in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for 24 hours straight, on August 12 2006.
The cachers were being treated to the following this year:
- A full moon, which makes for easier night caching - One meteor shower, so you can walk off the trail because you were looking at the sky, not your GPS
- Three vehicles to choose from! The "Red Jeep", the "Short Bus" and the "Mobile Photo Hut" -- all co-ordinated on Amateur Radio using simplex.
- Numerous antics during the silly hour at 3AM.
This year, the GLS Marathon included these noble cachers:
- Keith Watson
- Jimminie Crickets
- Dr. Clean
( more updates to come )
The cache container is classified as a micro, as it is too small to accomodate a pencil (bring your own!) or trade items. Geocoins will probably fit though, and it is on the larger end of the micro size.
