This Regular cache is located at the Northern extent to Northover ridge on the Defender Mountain Mount Northover Col.
Northover Ridge is one of Kananaskis' great backpacking trips. The trails through and around the ridge are all well described in Gillian Daffern's guide book "Kananaskis Country Trail Guide" Volume 1. As Gillian put's it, the loop through Aster Lake and Three Isle Lake is "the best backpacking trip in K country" and she should know.
The cache has been placed at the Northern end to allow it to be accessed as a day trip from Three Isle Lake or even a crazy long day trip from Kananaskis Lakes. The loop through the ridge is a trip to put on your "must do" backpacking list.
This is a solid and long off trail hike. Please do not travel alone. Make sure that you wear proper footwear, carry appropriate supplies and have a compass and topographical map.
Note that camping is ONLY allowed at designated camp sites (within Alberta). Campsite usage in the Alberta areas (Peter Lougheed Provincial Park) requires registration and fee payment, phone 403-678-3136 or 310-0000 toll-free in Alberta. See (visit link)
Camping regulations within the BC side (Height of the Rockies Provincial Park) is a little unclear and it would be best to contact BC Parks for the latest information, see (visit link)
