Eastern Shore Expedition I Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Miamc: Having replaced and relocated this cache several times since placing it, I finally have to admit defeat. Perhaps another cacher will have better luck placing a cache in this area. Thanks to all who did find it over the years.

Geocache Description:

The first of two micro multi-caches created in honor of a sailing event in town. The cache will be maintained locally by N5LKJ.

This is an excellent beginner’s multi-cache with easy puzzles and only two steps. The only real challenge is the muggle factor in this popular tourist destination town. Treat the cache like an urban cache using all the usual precautions as you retrieve and replace it. This might be a good evening or night cache, so long as you don’t loiter too long or make a lot of noise and attract attention. The cache is a waterproof match holder with a small log sheet. You will need to bring your own pen.

The first set of coordinates bring you to the heart of old St. Michaels. The bell on the pole in this square was rung to call the shipyard workers to work, to signal their lunch break, and to end the work day. It is still rung regularly today.

To derive the final coordinates, count the number of canons that decorate the square and find the year of the square’s founding. Apply these numbers to the coordinates below as follows:

Number of canons = X
Year of square founding – 1442 = YYY

N 38 47.X54
W 076 13.YYY

While you’re here check out the church bell across the street.
