Geocache Description:

The area has some interesting history plus the legend of Cold Spring ..In 1905 a cobblestone tower was constructed over the spring where residents would gather water with buckets they would bring... ..YOU ALL CAN REDO THIS IF YOU LIKE RICKNROY..

Rather than tell it from memory, I may post it if I can find it written somewhere. In the 1800's, this was part of industrialist Edward Harris' estate, then later becoming parkland for the city he helped to build. Val from Blackstone Valley.( Harris lived in a beautiful mansion that he built on the corner of Harris Avenue and Blackstone Street in the North End. By the 1870's, his Harris Woolen Company operated six mills in Woonsocket and employed over 1,000 people. He died in 1872 and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery along with his family. )
